June 6 Saturday – Nat’l Sweden Day

The girls went shopping in the Stockholm shopping district.  Here are some pictures I took from the taxi on the way:

National Sweden Day was started about 10 years ago.  There is no official reason, like independence, for the holiday.  Many people come to visit Stockholm on this day  even the King and Queen.  The King and Queen ( along with their children) are driven down the main drive in horse-drawn carriages.  We could see them pass as we sat and ate dinner at Ulla Windbladh. Tove brought her husband Nills and her 2 adorable baby daughters.  Krister’s younger daughter also came – Ulrika – so I finally got to meet her. Krister, Johan and Sofia rounded out the crowd.  Krister treated us all to a traditional Swedish meal at a restaurant that is over 100 years old.

Krister wore a ‘gold medal’ won by another relative Eric Ny when he won an important race in Stockholm in 1931.
